Our Values

Fresh matcha, whatever the cost

At Maido Matcha, we don't have a huge stock of our products. Why? Because we want to offer the freshest matcha possible! Did you know that our matcha is canned 24 hours before being shipped from Japan to France? It doesn't get any fresher... this comes at a cost, it's true: but quality is our priority.

Matcha is a fragile product that can oxidize, which is why our batches are imported in small quantities and regularly to guarantee you an always fresh product.

Our Producer

Our matcha comes from a Japanese micro-producer whose family expertise dates back to the mid-19th century. This collaboration with an authentic artisan explains certain particularities such as our handcrafted and hand-applied labels, but reflects our commitment to supporting small producers. This direct relationship allows us to build a partnership of trust aiming for shared prosperity in the long term, preserving a quality and authenticity impossible to achieve through industrial channels.

Behind Maido

Behind Maido Matcha is a small passionate team, united by a love of tea and located between France and Asia, who believes that you can truly respect the product that is matcha without having to add lots of things for it to be consumed in France and Europe. Another important point: being close to our producer and to Japan is more than important to us. This also allows us to reduce our carbon footprint by avoiding numerous round trips between France and Japan.

Our Logistics Partner

We have chosen a logistics partner whose values align with the philosophy of Maido Matcha. Our ethical logistics partner shares our responsible commitment with its eco-friendly plastic-free packaging and its use of 100% renewable energy. Its strong social dimension, particularly recruitment in priority neighborhoods, reflects our vision: not just to produce exceptional matcha, but to have a positive impact on society and the environment.

Bags for large formats

Our matchas are offered in large 100g formats in ecological bags. This option allows you to easily refill your existing containers, thus significantly reducing packaging waste. A practical and responsible solution that fits perfectly with our philosophy where the exceptional quality of our matcha is accompanied by deep respect for the planet.

"We want each cup of matcha to be an invitation to slow down, to savor the moment, and to say 'thank you'."

Romeo, founder of Maido Matcha

Our vision for the future

At Maido Matcha, we aspire to democratize access to exceptional matcha while preserving the traditions that make it quality.

Our vision is to create a conscious community that appreciates the value of an authentic product and the benefits of more thoughtful consumption. We wish to be a bridge between centuries-old Japanese tradition and Western modernity, while remaining true to our values of quality, ethics and sustainability.

FAQs

Our Mei-san and Daichi-san matchas are exclusively ceremonial grade, the highest quality available. We only select young leaves from tea plants grown in the shade during the last weeks before harvest, which develops their characteristic umami flavor and L-theanine content. Our matcha is ground on traditional stone to preserve all its organoleptic qualities.

Quality has a price. Our ceremonial grade matcha requires special care during cultivation, selective hand harvesting and traditional stone grinding. These artisanal methods, combined with our ethical commitment to producers, explain our premium positioning. You're not just paying for an exceptional product, but also for a responsible and sustainable approach.

Our Japanese producer is a very small farmer, who nevertheless has owned his land for several generations! Indeed, his expertise in matcha dates back to the mid-19th century.

As a result, we are sometimes limited in certain aspects: the labels on our cans applied by hand, the fact of having bags directly in the cans (because a machine to put matcha in closed and sealed packaging costs a lot of money and requires a significant investment that our producer doesn't have).

But this is a deliberate choice on our part to support smaller producers. This special relationship we maintain is important to us, in order to build trust and prosperity in the long term.
