Daichi-san: A name, a soul, a taste.

At Maïdo, each matcha has a name. Not just for aesthetics, but to reflect its character and its soul.

Daichi (大地) means "great earth" in Japanese. A name that evokes solidity, rootedness, and quiet strength, much like this matcha with its assertive character.

Daichi-san doesn't try to please everyone. It asserts itself frankly, with its more intense, more vegetal taste, which awakens the taste buds and refocuses the mind.
It's the matcha for connoisseurs, for those who appreciate flavors with depth, complexity, and presence.

A matcha to be savored mindfully, in silence, or with an open heart.

Why you'll love Daichi-san?

Taste & Texture

Daichi-san offers a rich, intense taste with a beautiful mouthfeel. The umami is deep, balanced by a moderate, subtle, and elegant bitterness. Its texture is creamy, almost velvety once whisked well.
A matcha with character, yet fully controlled.

Recommended use

Ideal for usucha (light, whisked preparation)… but also for koicha (thick, rarer, and ceremonial preparation), for those who desire a deeper, more concentrated experience. It is also enjoyable as a matcha latte, provided you use a little less than Mei-san to preserve its full aromatic richness.

Cultivar

Daichi-san is made from a harmonious blend of three exceptional cultivars:
Saemidori, for its sweetness and pronounced umami
Okumidori, for its balanced structure
Asanoka, for its floral and elegant notes

A trio that gives birth to a complex, refined matcha with a beautiful aromatic depth.

Why did we choose him?

Because it embodies everything we love in a matcha with character: power, balance, and true elegance.
It's the matcha we open when we want to savor, slow down, and feel the Japanese earth under our feet. An unforgettable matcha.

FAQs

Mei-san is the epitome of smoothness: very little bitterness, a silky texture, a lovely roundness... and a subtle hint of hazelnut that caresses the palate.

Daichi-san, on the other hand, is like an imposing older brother: more intense, greener, livelier. If Mei-san whispers in your ear, Daichi-san speaks loudly (but with passion)

Absolutely! Mei-san is delicious as usucha (the traditional version, whisked with hot water) — that's how it's enjoyed to fully experience its sweetness and umami.

But if you're in the mood for a creamy, comforting latte, it's also perfectly suited for that. Its natural richness pairs perfectly with milk (dairy or plant-based), without any bitterness or overwhelming flavor. Mei-san is a matcha that aims to please, no matter how it's prepared.

Matcha contains a little caffeine (around 30 mg per serving), so as always during pregnancy: listen to your body, be reasonable, and if in doubt… ask your favorite doctor. Mei-san won't be offended.

Not at all. Mei-san, it's pure matcha, full stop. No sugar, no coloring, no added flavor. Just shade-grown Tencha leaves, hand-picked, then stone-ground. Nothing more, nothing hidden—and that's much better.

Sourced from Japan

We don't do things by halves: Daichi-san matcha comes directly from a Japanese producer in Kagoshima prefecture, without unnecessary intermediaries. We know the farmers, and we select what we ourselves would like to drink every morning.

100% Tencha Leaves

Real matcha is Tencha! These precious tea leaves are shade-grown, then slowly ground. No strange green powder here, just tradition in its purest form.

No sugar. No additives.

No hidden tricks or magic powders here. What you drink is 100% pure matcha. Nothing else. And frankly, it doesn't need anything else to shine.

Naturally rich in L-theanine

Matcha's little secret? It's that zen molecule that relaxes without making you sleepy. Concentration, calm, and clarity guaranteed. Not bad for a simple cup of tea, right?
